 Ulaanbaatar ▶ Tsagaan Suvarga
The scarp of Tsagaan Suvarga is located in Ulziit soum of Dundgovi province. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. The cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure.
It is sheer slope and was an old seabed with sedimentary structure created by millions years and the different colors of the ground represent different times.
The formation is over 50m in its highest point and continues 400m.
There is 2 famous sites for explore. First one is a interesting cave which is 70 m long Khevtee Bosoo agui (Lie and Stand Cave) and not so far from the site. It’s one of the largest sandy areas of Mongolia. Suddenly standing out from the plains, they are undoubtedly among the most spectacular of the country. The wind continuously blows from North towards West and the dunes can reach breathtaking heights, between 100 and 300 metres (328,08 – 984,25 feet) at their highest points. Khongor dunes are more than 180 km long and can reach 27 kilometres (16,28 miles) wide. Khongor Sand Dune ▶  Yol Valley Canyon
In 1965, before the creation of Gurvan Saikhan national park, a small 69 square kilometers (26,64 square miles) area around Yoliin Am Canyon was already a protected area. Yoliin Am is located about 60 kilometres (37 miles) Southwest Dalanzadgad, in the mountains of Züün Saikhan. The bearded vulture, Yol in Mongolian, gave its name to the Yoliin Am Valley, the Gorge of Bearded Vultures.Located at a height of 2500 metres (8202,10 feet), Yol Canyon forms a gorge that is so deep and so narrow, that only two persons can pass in some places. The water forms four small waterfalls. Although the sun shines a lot in this region, the canyon remains dark, so that in the bottom, a part of the river remains nearly all year long covered by a thick layer of ice. Here, travellers can discover permanent glaciers, endemic plants, and rare animals such as Siberian ibex, argalis, or bearded vultures. Snow leopards and other predators also live in the Yol Valley area.
North of the massif, dinosaurs’ skeletons dating back from more than 70 millions of years, have been found.

DAY5
Yol Valley Canyon▶  Baga Gazriin Chuluu
One is reminded of pictures of the American Grand Canyon, however, baga gazriin chuluu has a charm of its own. It is blanketed in history, some of it bloody, from what I heard from a tour guide who chatted with me, while his wards wandered around the ruins of a small Buddhist monastery from the 17th century. Most importantly, it is spectacular! Located in Dundgobi Province, it is Mongolia’s Rocky Mountains. Ruggedly beautiful, awe-inspiring, Nature laying out its heart at your feet. Be warned though. Beauties like baga gazriin chuluu come with its dangers. Leave the park hours before sunset or you will end up lost in its surroundings. With light only from the distant Milky Way, driving back to Delgertsogt or to the newly paved Gobi road will be very tricky. No signposts, just track roads leading everywhere. While trying to find our way out last night, we chanced upon a herder and his family, their pick-up parked on a fork road, lights ablaze. We were so glad to see him, but he sadly told us, “I live here but I’m lost, too!” We got lucky, the herder and us, when two other herders arrived in their motorcycle. They helped us find our way back to the asphalt road, and they also directed the family to their home. As for facilities, during summer, the park gets its share of ger camps, but right now, Autumn time, you only have the locals for help and they are scattered over great distances. Toilets are open pit, well…just enjoy the view.
